Medical gases

Changes
Medical gases are listed on the negative list, and the Norwegian Medical Products Agency (NOMA) must pre-approve all applications before distribution.
Applications for medical gases must be submitted through the gas supplier. The requester must use the standard application form, which should be delivered to the gas supplier. Applications for use in practice should be sent from the gas supplier to NOMA as an email attachment.
Local departments for treatment aids (which provide medical gas to patients outside of institutions) need to submit only one application per gas per year. It is not necessary to submit an application for each individual patient.
For gases to be used in studies, there is no need to apply for an exemption from approval. Approval to use the gas is implicitly included in the approval of the study itself.
